Rock, paper, scissors wolf.

24 posts in this topic

Welcome to a game with a gimmick.

Each day you'll choose rock, paper scissors along with your power. This influences the usefulness of your power, beating your targets throw gives you the best result, and losing the worst result.

I cannot promise this is going to be an amazing game, but the format should allow me to run it with as little as five players.

For other things, PMs will be banned to stop collusion with the RPS system. There will be no PIs. The game may or may not be balanced. The game may or may not be fun.

As said above, I can run this with as little as five people, but don't be afraid to nudge a few more people here for signups.

Oh, I'm going to be running this whole thing on a phone, so do not expect any plot either.

Put me down as a tentative yes. What time do you expect nightfall to be? I don't want to accidentally forget about Werewolf until midnight PDT again. Also, I won't be able to play past the 25th. I'll be attending dance workshops during Memorial Day weekend.

I will also give a provisional yes. I'm going to a friends wedding next weekend, so I'd need to be done by the 25th as well, or start after memorial day weekend.

Probably midday JST (Convert into your local timezone because I have no idea)

And this game will likely start in about a week depending on signups. I would have started sooner but won't be able to get it done by the 25th unless I start it...today. So would rather wait a week so people can play

I will play. The new start date works for me. Our gubernor has declared a special session, so I wasn't going to be able to play before Thursday.

Noon JST is 10pm CST, 11pm EST, 9pm MST, 8pm PST and 3am UTC.

Well, assuming all of the provisional yes players are still in I guess this is enough to start.

Will put up the game thread in around 36 hours. Still some time for people to sign up if you want to bug somebody into joining

So I erm, forgot I was moving today. Schedule has been slightly thrown off.

Will be up later today or tomorrow at latest, sorry

Probably a good idea to send reminders to everyone. I know I'm out of the habit of checking the forum daily, and I get the feeling that I'm not alone.

So few quick notes.

Sorry for delays, no real excuse for that.

Inu and Zilary targeting the other essentially only had a 50% chance of working due to them being same priority and needing to go first for their role to work. I should have been much clearer.

Everybody chose paper night 1.

Inu played his role really well, Zilary took a risky gamble and it seemed to pay off.

I made the protect role too weak. I was scared about balance due to one true evil player, but went a bit far with weakening roles.

I feel like the RPS mechanic is a good thing for games, but it really needs a bigger longer game to shine. Mccraabis role would have been a ton better with more days to work with.

There was so many ways this game could have gone differently day two, it was insane how close the innocents were to being in a much better position. More on that when I get home later

So Inu was a Traitor?

That's nice. There was no way I was going to logic that out and really no way that Zilary could convince me. All logical evidence pointed against Zilary, and the only way to counter that was to assume I was lying/had extra information. Getting confirmation on Inu changing my result halfway through the day certainly didn't help anything. I mean, it certainly was a strong innocent balance if the Dreamer's super-effective included a protect, but it made a logical sense to balance out the likely possibility of a dream failure.

Also pretty embarrassed that I read mccraabi's death and then promptly forgot about it for the first half of the day.

I'd definitely like to see the mechanic used again in a larger game. It seems like it has potential, particularly in an HP-based game.

I honestly have no idea how the RPS mechanic worked for anyone else. All I knew was that I could change your RPS choice and that nobody could change mine.

I technically wasn't a traitor. Traitors turn into villains if all the villains are killed. If Spirit died at any point, it was over. I'm actually a little surprised no one questioned if Spirit's claim was a bluff. Even if I wasn't the "fan", claiming you dreamed a random person as innocent is an easy claim when it's the last day.

I had gotten confirmation through my role that you had been protected, but that it wasn't by my protect. As a result of that, I had no reason to suspect the subversion, so I believed Spirit was responsible, especially once Zilary's claim both failed to contradict it and could only try to cast suspicion on you.

Edit: Looks like I misread my Night PM and assumed it said you were protected rather than simply targeted. In any case, the disable on you provides no explanation for how you were targeted for death and survived. I suppose Traitor should have been a viable thought for explanation.

Inu could not be killed by the killer. They started not knowing identities, killer only found out by targeting the fan. You protected inu, failed and then he didn't die because of the above.

Pretty much the most confusing thing that could have happened to you.

I didn't do anything this game, lol. The only information I got night 1 was that Spirit chose paper. There was nothing I could do with that, and then I died.

My role allowed me to see whether people chose rock, paper, or scissors for varying lengths of time depending on how the "match" went. This may have been useful had I survived, but not knowing who the their target was, or what the result of their encounter was made my information use pretty limited.

It was pure dumb luck that I was able to kill mccraabi on Night 1. I wasn't going to role claim but then an opportunity presented itself to a) protect Inu* and b ) be able to claim innocence as mccraabi's role was revealed to me when I killer her (sorry).

*I targeted Inu on Night 2 and it was revealed that he was a fan of mine, but I was 'too shy' to say hi to him. I was hoping by claiming his innocence that he would figure out I was the killer and help me eliminate others.

I would like to see this game mechanic played out on a larger group. Also, I miss PMing.

If no one else does, sure. I can start signups this week and start the game next week.

Sorry for my belated response. I guess I always lurk too much and then forget completely about posting.

Thank you @Sinical for hosting! I know we haven't had WW games around for a while and it was a great small snack bite as a refresher into the game.

It dawned on me on the last day as to why Sinical would put in a dreamer in a game this small, and then I realized spirit was most likely a baddie, but it didn't seem either players left, Inu and Rift, would be willing to be convinced off of me. I didn't feel like I did too much in the game, but the game was small. As the others players have said, I would love to see this extended to a larger game, especially with the RPS mechanic. It would help to know processing order early on, but I didn't think it affected my role too much. Felt like Inu and I were at a stalemate the last day, but Inu probably has better words of persuasion than I did. :P

Great game, though. Now my appetite is back for some more WW!

@Shattered Rift - Is there going to be an All-Stars game this summer/year?

Yes. It will be co-hosted by Blacjak and Rexozord and signups should be going up following Inu's game (or maybe during, depending on timing). I'll be sending out an email tomorrow most likely. I've been focused on the job hunt these past few days.
