"It's about time you guys caught up," Traj remarked cheekily, jogging down the hall beside Star and Rex.

"Shame about the Item Cache, though. I couldn't take the rest of them myself. Didn't want to show you guys up too hard."

Irregular Tower

"What kept you?" Ward joked as Team Science Project joined them in the Irregular Lounge.

"Had to clean up after you," Traj shot back with a grin.

"The Script Kiddie's supposed to be right up those stairs," Rex said, sobering the mood. Everyone was keenly aware of how out of place the normal furnishings felt. The Irregular Lounge, much like the Irregular Tower, was supposed to have design and furnishings vary from week to week. Each member of the group had a particular memory that stood out as their favorite.

"Rift said we should prepare ourselves before the fight," Traj said.

After making preparations, the group ascended the stairs.

The Irregular Tower was almost as out of place as the Lounge had been. All that stood out was the gigantic screen on the north wall showing numerous camera feeds from throughout the Mansion. Shattered Rift was continuing to fight valiantly in the Parlor, but with each wave he was losing ground. For now, he was still at the base of the stairs. In the Creator's Lounge, a torn painting sat among the debris. The Grand Ballroom was still full of webcrawler activity. Much of the Mansion, however, was still. The eight members to log in during the hacking had done well in clearing out most of the enemies.

The Script Kiddie stood with his head cocked, back to the group, watching Shattered Rift intently on the screen. A spambot flanked him on each side, unmoving despite noticing the newcomers. They stood as guards, waiting for opposition, while their master simply watched the screens. A long moment passed in silence.

"He'll fall soon enough," the Script Kiddie said in a modulated tone. His voice was simultaneously confident and dead. A tone of patient boredom seeped through, although that might have merely been his slouching posture. None of them recognized the voice, and both iko and Ward suspected it had been manipulated to sound different from his real voice. "Let him fall and there will be peace."

"Peace?" Star snorted.

The Script Kiddie turned to face them. Straight brown hair framed his face, but it was the face that drew all attention. His features were ever-shifting, eyes at one moment grey and the next brown, chin pointy one second and soft at the next. Each face would remain long enough to leave an impression before flickering into a new one. It would be impossible to learn his identity without capturing him, and none of them had the tools for that.

"Let him fall and there will be peace," the Script Kiddie repeated. A wicked grin broke his features, creating a horrific face before the image flickered and adapted. "Resist, and you will never find peace." The spambots stepped forward, and two webcrawlers dropped from the ceiling.

It was time for their toughest fight yet.

Party mechanics have been updated!

Up to three (3) parties of up to three (3) players may participate in a battle, allowing for up to nine (9) players in a single battle. Each party has an equal chance of being targeted. Within a party, the first or front position is most likely to be targeted while the third or back position is least likely to be targeted.

You may rearrange your parties and lineups for this fight if desired. Good luck.

Party 1: Ward: Sparks 20/24 Energy 4/4, Blacjak: Sparks 20/28 Energy 4/5, iko: Sparks 5/28 Energy 7/10
Party 2: Rexozord: Sparks 30/33 Energy 5/7, TheLastStarMaker: Sparks 10/23 Energy 6/9, Trajectory: Sparks 14/28 Energy 7/10

"If anyone wants to pass me ammo, I'm pretty good at this whole snowball thing," Traj said quietly enough for only the members near him to hear, before straightening and pulling out the last snowball he had left. He negligently tossed it up and caught it a few times in his right palm, planting his left fist on his hip and narrowing his eyes.

(It's a shame no one had invented laser eye beams yet; the look Traj was giving the Kiddie would melt titanium.)

In contrast to his facial expression, though, Traj's voice was sugary, poisonously sweet.

"Oh, sweetie. This look? On you?" Traj cooed, obviously looking the Kiddie up and down.

"Not. Cute."

Like lightning, Traj's stance flowed like liquid from disaffected playboy to Major-League pitcher as he wound up and hurled the snowball at the Kiddie's smug face.

Rexozord attacks SpambotB. 5 damage.
Blacjak attacks WebcrawlerB. 12 damage. Deleted!

The Script Kiddie cackled with glee as Ward's body was seized by the upload. The bruiser's body flickered, but the ones and zeroes that appeared did not dissolve. Ward continued watching the battle through grayed vision, unable to move. There would be no backup for Shattered Rift.

Trajectory's snowball hit its mark, making the Script Kiddie stagger back, but he only laughed as the battle raged around them.

Blacjak brought down the second webcrawler, but as he surveyed the situation and found Ward already fallen, he knew he and iko were vulnerable. Both spambots still stood, and the Script Kiddie was far from defeated.

Star has a Fused Spark Mini that I will allow her to retroactively use pre-battle (provided it's used on a still-living target), so long as she is the one to put in the command. To do so, this must be done before the next update (likely Friday evening).

Traj grimaced. He wasn't sure what had happened to Ward just now, but it clearly wasn't good. Best to take the Kiddie down quick before he could do much more - and hopefully the 'Bots would go down with him.

"Nice trick, space-case. Not good enough, though." Traj darted forward and swung two-handed, baseball-style, at the Script Kiddie's head.

iko's eye enlarged after Ward went from 20 sparks to 0 sparks in one hit. Panic started to seep into his skin and a cold sweat was forming on his forehead.

He looked around at the two parties and back on the enemy. Was he next to get wiped out? It was very possible given the information that was recently revealed by battling Script Kiddie.

With a deep breath, iko started to self-reflect.

Getting rid of the Spambots first appears to be the best assumption. New enemies do not reveal how much damage they can sustain before being defeated, and there is no indication of how much damage a brand new enemy type can do. The damage to Ward was very high and was not even critical, so it can be assumed that the enemy can stop one of us in one hit. With this new information, it may have been effective to attack only Script Kiddie first to get rid of it's high damage potential, but it is too late for that. It is uncertain if any of us will survive until the end, and maybe we should run, but as it stands, it is better to have 1 enemy that can stop one of us 1 at a time, rather than 3 that can do that. Even though it seems risky, death was the only way to restore health besides the limited FSM at this moment, so maybe death isn't too bad.

((Sorry, guys. I was AFK for a couple of days due to travel/visiting family and missed that last deadline, obvs))

~!**!~

Before Star could protest against not heading for the Item Cache that they had so covetously sought, she found herself standing with what she thought might be the only force the admin could muster, the only ones that had thus-far been able to sign back in after the wipe.

In the moments of preparation that the group took, Star surveyed their numbers and quietly popped her last Fused Spark Mini into her hand, crushed it, and threw the resulting pixel-shimmers in iko's direction without saying a word at a moment when no one else would likely notice. She had no doubt single-digits would not serve them in the fight ahead, and appeared once more to not take particular notice of her own hit points being close to such perimeters.

...

She found this weirdo's stance against the admin interesting to say the least, but kept most of her thoughts to herself, even as she shot forward to take down a Webcrawler, slight consternation appearing across her brow at accidentally hitting a sweet spot and deleting it in a single blow.

Wish I'd saved that luck for the big bad... She eyed Ward's greyed body with a stony glance of her own. This could get interesting if he keeps that sort of disruption up.

She side-stepped the Spambots with her quick, duelist's maneuvers--concerned that defeating all of the minions would only result in their numbers being reinforced--and darted straight at the dude molding the binary of the Mansion's code as if it were Play-Doh.

A sudden flash of anger at how frivolously the Script Kiddie was treating the whole situation, as evident by his laughter, narrowed Star's eyes into a dangerous intensity as she swung the bat two-handed at the jerk's head just like she might if his cranium were an over-sized baseball.

Rex took up a defensive position, and even though he was no hacker, he was able to run some countermeasures when the malware hit. Blurred vision made him panic for a moment, but then he realized it was merely a stun.

Star, Blacjak, and Traj all landed solid attacks, making the Script Kiddie stagger back. Now the laughter that taunted them lacked the spirit it had once had. They were winning.

iko had failed to bring down the spambot, but he had injured it enough that it hesitated.

"The hacker can stun us," Rex said, finally regaining his faculties.

A wolfish grin lit Traj's features, and his eyes sparkled with the thrill of the hunt. Loss of his usergroup didn't seem to be diminishing his competitive edge any.

"Way to defend, Rex," he cheered, clapping the Guardian on the back. Traj flipped his bat end over end and caught it by the hilt, pointing it at the Kiddie.

"Once more with feeling, I think."

He charged.
