The question of whether iron or bronze weapons/armor are more effective seems to be a hotly debated topic across the Internet.
There are a lot of confusing aspects. The Bronze Age precedes the Iron Age, but wrought iron usage precedes bronze usage in weapons and armor. Scientifically, pure bronze isn't as tough as iron, but this ignores the fact that wrought iron isn't as tough as bronze alloy (tin bronze). There seems to be a bit more to it than this, but these are the key points I've committed to memory.
There are also some points about the brittleness making different metals ineffective as swords although high toughness can make them viable in armors. I don't think that impacts this particular point, but it's something I've been reading about in the last four hours.
Meanwhile, I'm not actually sure if I plan to incorporate this into Mansionverse Saga or not.
